How to Mend a Broken Smile
Minimally invasive technique restores a child’s broken front teeth in less than an hour:
Due to the warm summer we’ve had, it’s been a great time for kids playing outdoors.
Unfortunately with all that extra cycling, skateboarding and tree climbing, it’s inevitable that there will be a few more falls and accidents. Here at Visage we’ve seen a fair number of children who have damaged their teeth from accidents while playing outdoors.
One recent case we had at the clinic was an 11 year old boy who had fallen off a chute whilst on holiday and badly damaged both of his front teeth. This affected his confidence so much that he didn’t want to play with other kids as he was worried they would laugh at him. His mother was so concerned by this that she spoke to friends who immediately recommended Visage.
On arriving at the clinic he was very nervous as he is frightened of injections, fortunately our team has a great deal of experience working with children and with nervous patients, and his dentist Tariq was quickly able to reassure him so he was happy to go ahead with his treatment.
That visit was easy for the patient as all Tariq needed was to take the necessary photos and impressions of his mouth that would allow our technicians to create a model of his new smile, helping Tariq plan exactly how to repair his teeth.
He came back for his second and final visit much less anxious than before as he now knew Tariq and the Visage team, and trusted them to look after him.
In just one hour Tariq was able to completely restore the patient’s teeth using layers of “composite resin” which exactly mimic the colours and other properties of the original teeth.
Within that single visit the process was complete, the restored front teeth were polished and finished and the patient was thrilled with the final result – as was his mum!
He was very grateful to Tariq and Visage for fixing his teeth, as he was immediately able to go back out to play with his friends and, even more importantly, to start at his new Secondary school with a confident smile.
